Tiled, slate or flat roofing: understanding the options

Tiles are widely used across pitched residential roofs and come in different materials, profiles and finishes. Ridges, valleys and verges are important parts of the completed system.
Slate roofing
Slate creates a distinctive, refined finish. Accurate setting out, sound fixing and careful junction work are central to good slate roofing.
Flat roofing
Flat roofs are common on extensions and garages. Falls, drainage, upstands and perimeter trims are critical even when the finished surface appears simple.
